An Angel's Kiss
I will turn their mourning into gladness;
I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.
Jeremiah 31:13
He worked alone in silence,
as a strange sensation touched his lips.
He smelled the fragrance of a familiar perfume,
and felt as though he had been kissed.
An Angel, perhaps, had quietly slipped into the room.
He stepped down from his ladder,
as his heart began to fill with gloom.
His baby sister had been taken,
in just the wink of an eye.
He hadn't time to tell her that he loved her,
or been granted a last "goodbye".
He had promised her a dance,
at the wedding long ago;
But time had just passed so quickly,
that he had to leave, and little did he know.
He recalls the last time he saw her,
and all the family,
He had hugged each one so gently;
except her, simply because she was out of reach.
Now, the memory of her comes flooding,
as he feels the Angel's kiss.
Why, he wondered sadly,
did it have to end like this?
He keeps a locket hanging
from her picture by his bed.
There isn't a day that passes,
without a remembrance of her being said.
A sister, deeply cherished,
A sister, deeply missed.
And now, she sends to her brother her love,
and delivers it with an Angel's kiss.
