I stood there amidst the crowd,
I heard the mockery and the jeers.
Emotions overwhelmed me,
and my face was washed in tears.
I heard them call out, "Crucify!"
Some were spitting and calling Him names.
They just didn't seem to understand,
that THEY were the reason Jesus came.
I saw Him bent, underneath the Cross,
a crown of thorns wrapped tightly around
His head.
His shoulders were heavy laden and bent,
and I saw the stains upon His garment,
as His forehead profusely bled.
I watched as Mary followed after Him, in
grief;
her heart all broken in two.
There was nothing, just absolutely nothing,
that a single person could do.
They made their way to Calvary Hill,
They nailed His body to the Cross.
I closed my eyes as I heard Him cry out
in pain;
His burden to live, and then die in shame,
He bore without any cost.
The hours ticked by slowly,
only a handful now remained;
As He asked for something to drink,
He was taunted once again.
He turned to the prisoner at His side,
and offered one more Salvation plea.
But, the prisoner refused to listen, and
cried,
"Why not save Yourself, and stop worrying about me!"
The small circle of family and friends watched on,
as He took His dying breath.
Sorrow and mourning then overcame,
as He had slowly reached His death.
I walked away, my heart breaking,
I had never suffered such a loss.
Our Dear Sweet Savior, Our Friend Jesus,
hanging there, on that Cross.
I could only recall the unselfish acts,
All the giving, His love had wrought.
I'll never forget My Lord Jesus,
His Sacrifice, or all the comfort He had
brought.
Then the disciples went back to their homes, but Mary stood outside the tomb
crying. As she wept, she bent over to look
into the tomb and saw two angels in white,
seated where Jesus' body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.
They asked her, "Woman, why are you crying?"
They have taken my Lord away," she
said, "and I don't know where they have
put Him." At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.
"Woman," He said, "why are you crying?
Who is it you are looking for?"
Thinking He was the gardener, she said,
"Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have put Him, and I will get Him."
Jesus said to her, "Mary."
She turned toward Him and cried out
in Aramaic, "Rabboni!" which means Teacher.
Jesus said, "Do not hold onto Me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go
instead to My brothers and tell them, "I am
returning to My Father and your Father,
to My God and your God."
Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: "I have seen the Lord." And
she told them that He had said these things
to her.

My Prayer
Dear Lord, in this world of pain and woe,
Full of perplexity and confusion everywhere I go,
Please, Dear Lord, I pray,
let me always stand,
Shielded from it all,
in the hollow of Your hand.
When I'm tossed on life's
tempestuous sea,
And it seems that the storm has covered me,
Protect me, Lord, and through it all, let me stand,
Unshaken and unafraid, trusting in the hollow of Your hand.

Living and Giving
Whatever you give away today,
or think or say or do
will multiply about tenfold
and then return to you.
It may not come immediately,
nor from the obvious source,
but the lawa applies unfailingly,
through some invisible force.
Whatever you feel about another,
be it love or hate or passion,
will surely bounce right back to you
in some clear (or secret) fashion.
If you speak about some person,
a word of praise or two,
soon, tens of other people
will speak kind words to you.
Our thoughts are broadcasts of the soul,
not secrets of the brain,
Kind ones bring us happiness;
petty ones, untold pain.
Giving works as surely
as reflections in a mirror.
If hate you send, hate you'll get back,
but loving brings love nearer.
Remember, as you start this day
and duty crowds your mind,
that kindness comes so quickly
back to those who first are kind.
Let that thought and this one
direct us through each day.
The only things we ever keep,
are the things we give away.
