Good Morning, Folks!!

And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19

Many are beginning to hurry about, this time of year, scrambling to shops, rushing through traffic lights, with the flurry of pre-Christmas activity. As the Eve grows even more close, the panic deepens.
Some are able to continue focused upon the true spirit of Christmas, while some, under pressure, may feel obligated to do more than they should.
It is time to relax, at that point, and consider a few things, before resuming.
While we may love those near and dear to our hearts, I don't think God meant for us to sink into depression, if we are caught
short of what it needs, to purchase something really special for everyone on our list.
As the years go by, our number of friends increases, and there is just no way, most of us can afford to purchase for everybody we would like to.
And do you know what? The sky isn't going to fall, if that happens.
Sometimes, those special people are content in remembering an out of the way kindness you did for them during the year,
or they may just be thankful that you are here, to talk to, to visit with, to share fellowship. They don't need something of a materialistic value from you, they have a treasure in your friendship already.
Instead of feeling obligated to charge more on credit cards, determine that you can do something even more special.
Get a blank card, and sit down and write that person a special note of what they mean to you, of the times you remember when they were there for you, and how much it means that they play a part in your life.
Now, seal that card up, wrap a ribbon around it, and tie a pretty bow on top.
This will be a gift well worth keeping, and something that money just cannot buy. As it is pulled out during the next year to be read, it will become even more precious.
Give thanks to God, Folks, that we are able, that we are free, and that we have all these treasures all around us, our family and our friends.
Think about it, and while thinking upon that, think of those serving in Iraq, in Afghanistan, who are not able to be at home with loved ones this year.

A Christmas Wish

I'd like a stocking made for a giant
and a meeting house full of toys;
Then, I'd go out in a happy hunt
for the poor little girls and boys.

Up the street and down the street,
and across and over the town,
I'd search and find them every one,
before the sun went down.

One would want a new jackknife,
sharp enough to cut;
One would long for a doll with hair,
and eyes that open and shut;
One would ask for a china set
with dishes all to her mind;
One would wish a Noah's ark,
with beasts of every kind.

Some would like a doll's cook stove,
and a little toy washtub;
Some would prefer a little drum,
for a noisy rub-a-dub.

Some would wish for a story book,
and some, for a set of blocks;
Some would be wild with happiness,
over a new toolbox.

And some would rather have little shoes,
and other things warm to wear;
For many children are very poor,
and the Winter is hard to bear.
I'd buy soft flannels for little frocks,
and a thousand stockings or so,
and the jolliest little coats and cloaks,
to keep out the frost and snow.

I'd load a wagon with caramels
and candy of every kind.
And buy all the almond and pecan nuts,
and taffy that I could find.
And barrels and barrels of oranges,
I'd scatter right in the way,
So the children would find them the very
first thing,
when they awake on Christmas Day.

Note:
A special "thanks" to those who helped in the shipments of the teddy bears and story books to the children of Iraq last week. I was told they should arrive to Major Bird by this Friday, December 12th.
Praise God.
