Riches of God

I once sought my God for riches,
in hopes that my cup would overflow
seeming, now, so insensitive,
and little did I know.

That, every time a teardrop fell,
each time I was misunderstood,
My God has always blessed me,
just as He said that He would.

You see, my cup was filled with sadness,
so that gladness I might see;
and all my hurts and disappointments,
only led to strengthening me.

I became so rich in God's love,
that I forgot all about my pain.
And, now, as I seek Him,
thoughts of others always come first,
whenever I call upon His name.

He has filled my cup to overflowing;
I think I may be one of the richest upon the earth.
I have learned that placing more value upon others,
continually adds and increases my own self worth.

My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart
and united in love,
so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding,
in order that they may know the mystery of God,
namely Christ,
in Whom are hidden all the treasures of
wisdom and knowledge.
Colossians 2:2-3
